SATA II is about twice as fast as SATA I (3gb/s and 1,5 gb/s I think), but most (read : all) HDD aren't able to output even more then 500 MB/s
No difference. Just like there's no tangible difference between PCI-Express 2.0 and 1.0
There is no difference...
Well with the new solid-state hard drives coming out, SATA II will make quite a significant increase in data transfer speed. But if you're sticking with standard platter-based hard drives then there really isn't much of a difference at all.

but hard drives can't reach that anyway
