i shall return and read your responses when i get back but i just need 2 things to be made clear for when i build my first comp:Quad or Dual core? i will be programming and gaming i have read that at the moment Dual > Quad for gaming and priceDDR2 or DDR3? again price but i dont mind spending that bit extra my mate said DDR3 is better (he does a computer course) lol but people on here say DDR2. thanks for any resposes =Da quick question before i go make chicken curry
Most games are not designed to be played on quad-core systems and therefore you will not realize any quad-core benefits while playing games, at least in the short term. If you don't care about the money, DDR3 RAM will certainly make your computer faster but for the price a large amount of DDR2 RAM is still plenty of speed for most current applications. a quick question before i go make chicken curry
If you're ONLY gaming, Dual. If you're going to do some serious multitasking/rendering programs as well then pick up a quad.DDR3 is better, but right now you're not going to see enormous improvements with it. That's more of a personal opinion and what you're willing to spend.
I'd strongly urge you to get the DDR2, then make me some chicken curry too.
if you got money to spare and multitask like crazy get a quad and I want chicken curry too:P
lol @ topic title
And...
Will quad-cores be worth getting right now, for future use?
...
And how does say a 2.3 or 2.66Ghz quad-core processor compare to a 3.0 duo core?
(I understand that there will only be 2 cores used for most games right now)
(Yeah, random questions in someone elses topic. I figure its better than making a bunch of other threads.)
I gto a q6600 just so it will be future proof. If games don't really use quad cores then oh well. it was only a few bucks more and it runs about the same.
CHICKEN CURRY !!! WAZZAAAAA !
lol Q6600 is not Future proof purple hippo
unless you find a wa yto oc it to 3.8ghz like Q9550 310$ : 2008 Q3 Summers Augusts

well oc it to 3.4 isn't bad D: .. imo.
>_>;
still not future proof buddy ;)
E8400%26e8500 Defeat any Q6600 Only q9300 %26 Q9450 and specially 9550 can even geat near E8500 OC performance
if you oc the 9550 theoretically it should be strong
and is sibling at 500$ Q9650 not Extreme at 1333fsb as well may Perform much better OC Does of it multilplayer 9X
so he could reach 3.8 ghz to 4.3Ghz The Q9650 Easy with a OC
that is really good for gaming at 1920x1200 resolution just telling you so.
mmm i see
i think i might get e8500 instead of the q6600 :D i'll read more about it :o
man . guess its a good thing i'm still broke :)
me im 75% money required for my uber build. 1550$
getting at last 2000$
hahahha mine's less than 1000$ lol 926 with shipping and tax lol
:P well everone as there vice lol

Im not saying its going to be needed or alot better but your not futureproofing at all
