I have a 790i ultra sli with an e8500 cpu at 3.16 standard and dual channel low frequency ddr3 patriot ram,( doesnt that sound all cool and **** anyway i've managed to get to about 3.5 but how far do oyu all think i should go with it?how far can i overclock this
Try to overclock it little by little, nobody can tell you what kind of overclock you'll get because all chips are different. You could probably get it higher, depends on your cooler and the temperatures in your house.how far can i overclock this
It depends on your cpu cooler and the max CPU temp under high loads. With any decent aftermarket cpu cooler you should get at least 700+ mhz on the E8500. There are plenty of overclocking guids on the web they can be very helpful on doing it right and not frying components.
