Sell my 4870 for 4870X2?

Should I sell my 4870 for $150 and get a X2? I play on a 22'' monitor.Sell my 4870 for 4870X2?
No.Sell my 4870 for 4870X2?
Yes, Sold.
Should I sell my 4870 for $150 and get a X2? I play on a 22'' monitor.
If you're running a single GPU setup, sure why not. If you have a crossfire enabled mobo, then I say no. Just get another HD4870 for Crossfire and save yourself $500 bucks. There isnt really a need to get HD4870x2 unless you want resolution beyond 1920x1200. As for Quadfire, that's pretty much overkill unless you want to run Crysis on Very High with impeccable framerates.

4870 for 150 US$? I'll take it!

On a serious note, though, it's probably not worth the upgrade unless you absolutely, positively have to run Crysis maxed-out on anything above slideshow framerates.
It would be more profitable just to buy another 4870 rather than sell yours to buy an X2. The preformance between Crossfire 4870's and the X2 are practically the same with just probably a couple frames on the x2's side.

Like I said in my post earlier, HD4870 Crossfire is about dead even with HD4870x2, in most games, if not all. If you're wondering about Quadfire, I dont think you'll benefit much from it if you only plan to play at 1920x1200. In my personal opinion, just buy another HD4870 and crossfire. You'll be set for a long time.
$150? What a great deal!
I'm gonna Xfire my 4870 later. I thought about the same thing, but then I looked at previews and decided it wouldn't be worth it.PS- If you do decide to sell your 4870 i'll buy it for $175(lol, j/k... but seriously...)
You may want to consider the fact that you have a p45 mobo which will run using 8x + 8x. I can't really say what the best choice is but I think a single 4870 should hold you over for the next year or so even at 1680 x 1050. If you're dying to spend the money go ahead. Or if someone is giving you the money to spend you should consider investing the money you're getting on something more profitable. I'd recomend fcel.
wow, no 30 day return policy? I got mine about 10 days ago and I'm returning it. definitely not getting a x2 though.
Go for it, you could get more than 150 out of it on Ebay if you write your ad right. I got about 329 out of a 2900XT I sold a year or so ago, I bought it for 350.

I don't get it. Why upgrade when your card is good enough?

As some have said.. you do need to look at reality.Even 1680x1050 4870crossfire isnt stretching it's feet. 4870x2 does NOT help at that resolution. Every review site is showing the only real benefits at 2560x1600. Even 1920x1200 AA/AF dosent hurt the 4870CF. ATI cards also handle the vram being fully loaded better so 512 on these cards arent as bad as 512 on nvidia cards. Dual 8x crossfire wont really hurt you at all. 8x with 4x would. However it is your expectations.

I also use a Fw900 CRT, widescreen sony trinitron 24inch 22.5viewable. As such I can get up to 2560x1600 75hz for testing. I tested alot of settings and noticed that at 1680x1050 the cards just begin to stretch. At 1920x1200 they really start to work. At 2304x1440 and 2560x1600 the cards work awsome and past my expectations. However at those high resolutions 512 cuts it but you do need more for high AA. So even 2560x1600 no AA the 4870 CF works just fine, and even 2-4xaa they stand their ground. However that is when the 1gb on each card of the 4870x2 shines. That is why all the tests so the 4870x2 about same as 4870CF at 1920x1200 even with AA.The 4870x2 is over 500usd at launch and with normal pricing brackets it is either 549 or 599. Tack on a extra 120-150 from the loss on his card and your looking at 700usd ish. At 1680x1050 by the time a game comes out that even begins to push the 4870x2 at that resolution most of them will be on newegg with huge clearence sales and many on the deactivated EoL page.

Make up your mind. I could care less about benchmarks and what websites says. When you actually own the cards and have it running then we could talk. I happen to know people who gained significant fps from a single HD4870 to crossfire. All these benchmarks do not interpret actual gameplay performance. It's been said many times.
