need help! 790i ultra vs. x48 chipsets

Hi guys ! I'm in a big dilema , I will buy a gpu gtx280 but I can't decide between the 2 Asus motherboards cause I'm not sure what I gain and what I lose between the 2 chipsets, from your opinion and experience which one is performing better with or without O.C. ??? I was thinking about x48 with crossfire HD4850 but I heard about the heat and drivers issue , you might say that gtx280 is expensive but its performance is the top and has 1GB vram , so I may sli in future but if x48 is better I'll go with it .These 2 motherboards I'm interested :Asus STRIKER II EXTREME(790i ultra sli)Asus P5E3 premium Wi Fi(x48)Thank you guys!!!need help! 790i ultra vs. x48 chipsets
The X48 overclocks roughly the same, consumes less power and is more stable than the 790i, especially with the latter for overclocking. The past few Nvidia chipsets for Intel have suffered from some data corruption issues, with and without overclocking. As for GPU's, just wait for the HD4870 X2. It should be launching mid August and at a price point of ~$550.need help! 790i ultra vs. x48 chipsets
If you don't care about budget... Choose Asus STRIKER II EXTREME(790i ultra sli)... You will get 10-20% boost in SLI performance and its support three way SLI (3x GTX 280)... Altough there is no such game fully support three way SLI nowadays, maybe in the future though...

2. Unless he has 30'' monitor or a lack of brain cells, there's no need for 3 x GTX 280's.
3. Do you know how SLI/CrossFire works?
If you are going to buy an nvidia card then stick to the nforce chipsets so that you can sli in the future If you needed to.but if you are buying the ati card (4870 or 4870x2) then buy the the x48,but are you sure you want the ddr3? its not worth it
1. yes I know how sli/crossfire works2. as I said I may go sli in future if I see one card can't handle demanding games at 1600x resolution OR I may buy other best GPU at that time IF I KNOW that my motherboard x48 is better than 790i ultra sli, but if their performance is similar and no problems I will go 790i sli and later get another gtx280.so which one is better chipsets??!!
