After I get my finances in order I'm going to build a new computer. I'm not sure what I should do with the old one, though. It's a prebuilt one and I'm not sure what all the specs are, but here's what I do know: GPU: Geforce 7800 GSProcessor: Intel Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz1 GB RAMI dunno if it would be worth anything to anybody. What should I do with my old computer?
burn it !!! lol, no seriously make a donation to a school or something, or you can try to sell itWhat should I do with my old computer?
Donate it, give it to a family member? Setup Folding@Home? Get a few bucks for it on craigs list?
Well, I wanted to know if it would be worth anything in terms of $$$ -- you know, an estimate kinda. But eh, maybe I'll see if my girlfriend's family wants it.
Eh someone would buy it for like $250 - $350
Yeah, you could get around $300 for that. It's not a bad setup at all. Only bad thing really is it's a single core.
Okay, sounds like a good deal. I might replace the 70 GB HD with a 160 GB one; does that sound like a good idea?
Yeah not a bad computer.
Certainly for a media center PC and 1 year old games it gets the job done well.
Do not give away your Harddrive. Destroy it.
Otherwise someone like me will pick it up and go through it with a toothpick just for kicks. And it wont matter that you formatted it either
yeah you can get around 300$ and 700$ if you find a pigeon :) like dell they sell stuff that worth 30$ at 200$ :)
it damn true about what worth 30$ At 200$
for more information : newegg 30$ 2GB 800mhz DDR2 desktop memory VS : 200$ :For 2GB 667mhz DDR2 Desktop memory at dell.com
Home server!
lol. send me your graphics card, if you dont mind please. :)
Not a bad system sell it or donate it to your local high school I'm sure they could probaly use it. Or keep it as a backup just incase if any of your new parts brakes down on ya and you have to wait for the replacement like I had too for my cpu fan =( but its up and running.
Haha, don't worry, I know. :D That's why I was going to put in a new hard drive, and for the old one, well, there's a hammer in my room that I've always wanted to put to good use. I will probably keep this computer around for a while as a backup. Hopefully in the meantime I will find a buyer/some use for it. Thanks for all the tips.
Home server!
Gotta agree, run a dedicated home server, file storage, Vent/Team Speak server, dedicated host for gaming etc...

Things you COULD do.
Install linux, set it up so every....20 minutes the webcam takes a picture, and at the same time compiles the pictures into a movie, put it by a window/door, forget about it for a few years.
Turn into a fish tank.
Use it as a media/game server for friends.
I've got more suggestions if you'd like :P
