Dual Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2's

I'm planning on buying this set of graphics cards but my question is that let's say I bought these around a month from now, how long would it take for Dual GX2's to be out-dated? And please for the love of god don't post on how much the ATi 4870 is better, cuz I could care less about how much cheaper the ATi card is and why I should reconsider my card choice. Just answer the question please.Dual Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2's

They won't be outdated for some time, but you can get more for your money in the meantime. If you're set on nVidia and a high end GPU, I'd strongly suggest you wait for the revised GTX cards. On a side note, I'm returning my weaksauce HD4870 :D
i am getting a feeling that your buying them at a speciall offer but if you ask me i think you should go for crosfire HD 4870 i belive (correct me if iam wrong ) its even better than sli 280gtx maby because it as gddr5 and nvidia gddr3.
It would take a while. Maybe a year or so till they can't max out every single game (just matters how much technology improves really). Since the Dual GX2's is a very powerful duo. I would suspect at least 8 months or so, maybe even a year.

Thank you. That's exactly the answer I was hoping for. You rock.

Well the monitor I plan on purchasing supports up to a max resolution of 1920 x 1200, but I'll probably be playing most of my games a tad under like 1600 x 1200.
You should still be fine. I wish I could have those graphics cards, lol. I have a 8600GT.

I wouldn't be able to afford them if it weren't for my $14.00 an hour wage at my job lol. I've been saving my money for a completely new computer and those are the graphics cards I'm set on.

If my parents let me build a computer myself, I would, but they probably wouldn't trust me with it. It was a 1000 dollars. 4 GB Ram, Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz, and 256 MB 8600GT. The other choice was a 256 MB Radeon ATI HD 2600XT. Decided to go nVidia. And also, bebi, do you really think this will max out every game for 2 years? I don't think you can say that without having doubt. It really matters how much technology improves. I think 2 years is a bit of a stretch. I can see it lasting a bit more than a year or so, but 2 years of maxing out every game seems a tad bit unlikely.

How good of a resolution is 1680 x 1050? If that resolution is comparatively good then I might just buy a monitor that supports that kind of resolution.
It's pretty good. Mine is 1440x900 and that's fine for me. The 1920x1200 is more demanding, but the 1680x1050 is very good as well.

Hmmm.. Well what would you two suggest? Getting a monitor that supports 1920 x 1200, or 1680 x 1050? Which resolution would be more online friendly?

The only reason why I chose the 24'' was to watch 1080p movies.
Really? Hmm, didn't know that. Then, I guess yeah, you are probably right. But it still matters how much technology improves really. DX10 is very demanding, and DX11 is coming out also. Also, more games in the future will require DX10 which is way more demanding than DX9. But yeah, it should last 2 years or so, but I'm personally not sure if it could max out every game.
