Is my CPU bottlenecking my 8800GT (and some other concerns)?

Hi, I have an AMD 64 X2 5600+, 3 GB RAM, and a BFG 8800GT 512MB OC. I have searched around the forums, but I could not find any direct results, so I apologize if this has already been addressed. Now, I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to computer, but I do know enough to get me around. I bought my HP Media Center PC around November of last year. My 8800GT is wonderful, but I have a feeling it might be bottlenecked my CPU.What is the Intel equivalent to the 5600+ and how does the 5600+ hold to current processors? What are generally the CPUs (Intel and AMD) people are looking at now? I have a feeling that my CPU is pretty old, for I can't seem to find it on any retailer sites.I have pretty good performance in the UT3 demo. I'm interested in Gears of War for the PC. Since Gears of War uses the same engine, does that mean I should get around the same performance (I know that this should be in another forum, but I'll leave it here for now)? Thank you in advance. :) Is my CPU bottlenecking my 8800GT (and some other concerns)?
Your PC is good, sounds like a software problem or something...........Is my CPU bottlenecking my 8800GT (and some other concerns)?
The best way to figure out is to answer what resolution do you play at ? The higher the resolution, the less demanding the CPU becomes. As for your cpu, it performs around a 2.6-.2.7 regular core 2 duo so I really doubt its a CPU issue.
Usually at the highest resolution. For games, I can usually only go to around 1280x1024.
Yea, if you're CPU is running right it shouldn't be holding back the card. Most people go Intel now, because they are a little more dependable and faster. The E8400, E8500, and Q6600 are the most common ones right now. Here's a link to your CPU by the way AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+
Awesome, that's good to hear. Thanks guys!
nope - no bottleneck - did you download the latest force ware drivers? or maybe your HP has a PCI-E 1.0a slot - maybe thats slowing it down. other than that, there is no problem with ur sistem
I don't believe I have the Force Wave drivers, just the latest nVidia driver.

Of course you can probaly find some random benchmark showing it on par with a 2.4ghz but then again I can show the same thing but with 2.6-.2.7 so I don't see your point.
its about a E6400, since the 5000 wich is slightly worse is slightly better than the E6420

EDIT- http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon64-x2-6000_4.html#sect0 on some of the gaming charts, even the slower version of the x2 5600 I was looking at performs inbetween the E6600-E6700 in some of the charts but then again this is pointless......

So if 3.0Ghz AMD can perform as 2.4Ghz C2D how can 5600 that is clocked .2 Ghz lower perform same as C2D @ 2.6-2.7Ghz what would be .2Ghz faster then what 6000+ can compare too. It doesnt make any sense. Ur basicly saying that 5600+ can perform better then 6000+ here.

How does the x2 6000 thats performing either better or 3-4% worse than a E6700 qualify itselft as the same as the E6600 ? That doesn't make sense.
