PSU+8800GTs SLI

I'm usually pretty tech savy, but I don't know much when it comes to power suppy units.I have a 500W PSU (best specs I could find)*Specs/Etc* It's powering:E6600 Overclocked to 3.2ghz4sticks - 667mhz ram Overclocked to 710ish 3HDDs 80gigs each/7200 RPMSingle 8800GT3 Case fans1 DVD/CDrom R/RW driveFloppy
Several USB devices (joystick, headset, mouse, keyboard etc.) I'm currently using: 1-4pin CPU power cable, 1-20pin ATX Motherboard cable, 1-Y cable w/2-4pin Power Connectors and Floppydrive (powering 2 of 3 harddrives... last one looks like it runs off motherboard), 1-Y cable w/2-4pin power connectors (both are connected to 6pin conversion for 8800GT,1-4pin power cable (connects to a case fan which has a Y connector that then connects to motherboard for extra PCI power)1-4pin power cable (think this is connected to DVD/CD RW drive)*Question* So... I'm out of cables except for the 6pin Zeon cable, but I do have 2 connected to a single 6pin converter (assume it only needs one) and I have one connected to extra PCI power on the motherboard (don't know what it does, but I stuck it in anyways).I'm wondering if my 500W PSU will have enough power for another 8800GT overclocked to 725/950. It's already pretty hot under load so I'm not sure how much more it can take. I've read several articles that say that 8800GT SLI only requires 173W at peak load, combined with a C2D for 350W peak load. I REALLY don't want to upgrade my PSU (I think it's the worst part to replace) and I will probably wait on another 8800GT if It won't run 100% on my current PSU. PSU+8800GTs SLI
I would suggest maybe getting another PSU personally. They are not too bad to install (even though last time I bought one, I had to get a hacksaw and slice down my case because it wouldn't fit properly :PPSU+8800GTs SLI
I'll wait then, if I have to. I wanted to get another 8800GT ($130) because I was also going to get a 24'' LCD ($330ish) that runs 1900x1200. Considering how expensive PSUs are now... I think I'll just wait on both. SLI isn't quite worth $300+ for PSU+another GPU. I just want to know if it would run 100% and not fry with the overclocks I have (not too concerned about future proof because I won't be buying new hardware for the next two years as I won't be getting paid).
Anyone else have input?-Thanks
it's not the watts that matter but how many AMPS are on the 12v rails. buy the card, test it out and see. And then go from there.
Thanks. On the back of the PSU it says ''+12VDC 34Amps,'' which appears to be pretty good compared to some of the PSU I've been looking at. It also has ''5VDC 30A.''
Well, according to the official website, that PSU is not on the list for SLI certified PSU's....That being said, a pair of 8800 GT's SLI only consumes 287w at load from this website. So, unless you're running a bunch of other things with your computer, I would say that PSU can barely run 8800 GT's SLI....Though, according to mastershake, I'm 'misinformed', so you 'shouldn't' really take my information for granted. :P
SLI certified PSU's are just a gimick. Just like ''Made for Windows'' and ''Vista Ready.'' I'll take my chances.Nice find on that website.-Thanks for all the input.
