Problem with disk drive, anyone had this before?

Alright, so here's the problem. My disk drive apparently will no longer read DVD-ROMS (Games, Movies, etc) and when I do put the disc in no action occurs, as the disc won't even spin. It was only a few months ago that I was able to play games. But another thing is that my drive still reads/plays CDs (audio cds, blank cds, etc). What is the reason for this? And has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it?My computer is a HP Pavilion m8125x and my disk drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H30L.I checked if everything was ok in device manager (everything was good), I tried reading the discs from a command prompt (my disk drive was detected but no DVD was detected inside, although CDs were detected and directories were able to be displayed), I tried reinstralling the driver, and I tried system restore (no luck). The only thing I haven't tried yet is maybe checking inside my comp or something but I don't want to continue without knowing what I'm dealing with.Hopefully I won't have to replace my drive but if I must I will.Problem with disk drive, anyone had this before?
check the back of your drive, and check the cables, or maybe its a prob with the controller, go to the device manager, and select the drive, then properties, and click on sumthin like: update controller (or watever its called)Problem with disk drive, anyone had this before?
Two things you can try before buying a new one: 1. Buy some compressed air and clean the drive. 2. update or reinstall firmware : http://www.driversupdate.org/?gclid=CNzjppC845QCFQZeswod0wSSTA
