You will not be playing Crysis on very high at great fps unless you lower the rez, that goes for mainly any card. If you end up leaning toward 260 just go ati 4870.new dell xps 630 is it time to upgrade my vid card? nvidia 8800 gts 640 mb
I would say go for it. Your card is still good but aging a little.
Does your computer have a motherboard that supports crossfire? That would be good to know.
Yes it does it came with 2 ati 2600xts i think
if i were to get one of the higher end cards would i notice that much of a difference?

Just wait, the 8800GTS is by no means outdated.
Your video card is fine. This generation isn't worth it. Still the same games on the market which 8800 series can run flawlessly. Crysis is just boring bs with crappy multiplayer mode. Team Fortress 2 and COD4 is today's must-play online games. I'll wait for new games with DX10/DX11 and stronger video cards next generation. Till then, save up.
cool thx guys
I would also say to keep your card. A member on the board (StarYoshi) once said he upgraded from an 8800 GTS 512 to an HD 4870, and he noticed very, very little difference. I also suspect the difference of a 640 and 512 isn't too overwhelming, either.
