Is Vista worth it now?

Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz, 3 GB Ram, Geforce 8800 GTX 756MB, Windows XP SP2.I was just wondering if it would be worth upgrading or if I would see a drop in performance for games. Also, when upgrading will I lose my current games, movies, music etc.? Im interested in DX10 but if I'm going to get lower fps with Vista I dont think its worth it. In Crysis right now i can get 30-40 fps with fake DX10 and almost everything on very high (thanks to some mods). Will Crysis perform better with Vista? Is Vista worth it now?

The consensious about vista seems to be only get it if you are building a new comp and need a another OS. Otherwise stick with XP. The gain of DX10 is very small overall.
Crysis will perform worse, thats for sure.
I would just stick with XP for the performance. The DX10 is worthless if you ask me, it's almost impossible to notice the difference unless you spend the time to stair really hard.

If Direct-X 10 doesn't matter, then XP will suffice, even for gaming.
I have the same basic setup but with vista 64. Crysis for me runs in the 30 FPS range. Just like the other poster said, get it if your building a new system, but if you are already up and running smoothly on XP, you are not really going to get a big advatage out of vista. Some minor things would be better, some minor things would be worse.
I'm in this position...up and running very smoothly with xp...see no reason to spend 109 dollars (newegg OEM..) on vista...a friend of mine has 8800gtx, Q6600...two hdds one xp one vista...we played it on both, the difference is hardly noticeable, in fact it looks better on xp w/ the natural lighting mod and the very high hack! ntm, it gets higher fps!!
To me it is, maybe not to you ;)
